Specification for website and other content for Blackburn Empire Theatre

To make the most of the opportunities available for advertising your event on the Blackburn Empire website and social media channels, please follow these guidelines:

Main Event Image

The main event image should be 960 x 540 pixels and should be supplied as a high quality jpg or png file. Larger size graphics can be submitted but please ensure they conform to the aspect ratio 16:9

To feature on the main event slider on the front page, please be aware that we overlay your image with event details and booking links, so it is recommended that the lower 170 pixels of the image contains no text. Click on the template to the left to view full size.

There is no requirement to include the theatre’s approved web logo into any graphic and we recommend in general not to do this.

Strong images of the performers generally work best and have most impact on the web and particularly for mobile users. Images with lots of text, generally do not work well with the overlaid text from the website.

Theatre Logo

If you are including a logo into any graphic or printed material, it should be the theatre’s approved logos, which are available in a range of formats in both RGB (web) and CMYK (print) versions on this link. The logo should not be altered in any way and should also be static in any animated or video content.

Main Event Copy

Please submit your event copy to the support email address shown below.

Video Content

We will add video content to your event listing through an approved link to YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook. Please submit the urls via the support email address below. Please be aware, that for social media, we may also download this content and upload it directly to Facebook or Twitter. Please ensure you let us know if this is not allowed. Short videos of 60 seconds or less tend to have higher levels of interaction.

Social Media Content

If you wish to supply bespoke social media images (jpg, png, gif), please ensure they comply with the following dimensions:

Facebook: Cover Photo (Not used for every show): 820 x 312 pixels

Facebook: Shared or Direct Post: 1200 x 630 pixels

Please also note that promoted posts on Facebook perform best with minimal amounts of text, which includes text included in logos. If you want to utilise promoted posts a good rule of thumb is that your text should cover less than 20% of the area of your graphic. You can check if your graphics comply by visiting https://www.facebook.com/ads/tools/text_overlay

Twitter: In-stream photo: 1024 x 512 pixels (2:1 ratio)

Maximum file size of 5 MB for photos, and 5 MB for animated GIFs.
