Specification for Website and Other Content
To help your event perform as strongly as possible across our website and social media channels, please follow the guidance below when supplying images, copy and media.
Main Event Image
- Minimum size: 1280 x 720 pixels
- Format: high quality JPG or PNG
- Aspect ratio: 16:9
- Larger files are welcome if they keep the same aspect ratio
- You may also provide a portrait image for the event listing
Strong images of performers usually work best and have the most impact online, especially on mobile. Images with lots of text do not generally perform as well, particularly when website text is layered over the image.
There is no requirement to include the theatre’s approved web logo in event graphics, and in most cases we recommend not doing so.
Theatre Logo
If you are including the Blackburn Empire Theatre logo in any graphic or printed material, please use only the approved versions available below.
- Available in RGB for web and CMYK for print
- The logo must not be altered in any way
- The logo should remain static in animated or video content
Video Content
- Submit via YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook links
- Videos under 60 seconds typically perform best
- We may upload video directly to social platforms for better reach

As a minimum, please supply images in the following formats:
- 16:9 – landscape
- 9:16 – portrait
- 1:1 – square
Providing multiple formats ensures the best performance across all platforms.
Platform Sizes
- Facebook cover: 820 x 312 pixels (optional)
- X image: 1024 x 512 pixels
- Instagram: 1024 x 1024 pixels
Promoted posts generally perform best with minimal text.
File Sizes
- Maximum 5MB for images
- Maximum 5MB for GIFs
