Sad news about Connie Carter

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our beloved Empire family members, Connie Carter. Connie passed away at home on Wednesday, 20th September. Our thoughts, prayers, and love go out to Alison, her daughter, at this very sad and difficult time.

Connie was a long-serving stalwart of the Empire, having been involved from a very early stage in fundraising and helping to build the backbone of what the Empire is today. The entire Carter family has played an integral part in the Empire’s history. Connie’s husband, Harold, was a long-serving board member and one of the key figures in restoring the Empire to what it is today. The love and passion for the Empire that Connie and Harold shared also extended to their daughter, Alison. Alison is still an active volunteer with us and continues to share the passion that was passed on by her mum and dad.

Over the many years of her service, Connie became involved in various areas of the theatre’s operations, eventually settling into helping run the bars, ensuring that they were always stocked and ready to go. She served thousands of people during her time running the bars, always with the infectious smile Connie was known for.

To say that Connie had endured a tough few years would be an understatement. Despite all she had gone through, she regularly visited us at the Empire and participated as much as she could. Connie will be greatly missed by us all. We have lost another long-serving member of our BEST family. May you now finally be at peace, Connie. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your service.
