Remembering Colin Hilton: A Musical Legacy at the Empire Theatre

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend, Colin Hilton. Many of you may know Colin from our Monday Afternoon Variety Shows. For many years, he was the resident musical director, accompanying a vast array of acts on the Empire’s stage. Colin’s professional career spanned many years, and the list of people he worked with and accompanied is remarkable. Having him at the helm of the keyboards in any show was always a pleasure, and you knew everything was in safe hands.

Living locally, practically on the theatre’s doorstep, Colin was always ready to lend a hand and support us whenever we needed a top-class accompanist. He consistently went above and beyond to support the performers he played for, and his musical knowledge and expertise were always warmly appreciated. It would be difficult to put a number on the many shows Colin was involved in at the Empire.

Colin was a true professional, and I’m sure anyone who had the pleasure of performing with him would wholeheartedly agree. He will be dearly missed by many. His legacy and contributions to the theatre will not be forgotten.

Thank you for everything you have done for us, Colin. Rest in peace.
