We are delighted to announce that our exceptional team of BEST (Blackburn Empire Support Team) volunteers has been named runners-up in the Culture, Leisure & Sporting Life Award category at the recent Blackburn & Darwen CVS Community Volunteers Awards 2023.
Held at King George’s Hall, the awards ceremony recognized the outstanding contributions of volunteers throughout Blackburn and Darwen. We were honoured to be nominated alongside such deserving contenders, and we extend our warmest congratulations to the winners of this category, Blackburn Pride.
Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the Blackburn Empire Theatre, and their unwavering dedication has been paramount to our success. For 21 years, they have diligently supported our mission to bring laughter, smiles, and joy to the people of Lancashire and beyond.
From administrative tasks and box office operations to technical support, front of house, bar and cleaning, our volunteers are the backbone of our theatre. They work tirelessly behind the scenes and during every show, ensuring that every aspect of our productions runs smoothly for our audiences and our performers. The 5 star reviews we receive almost every day are testament to this.
Their commitment has been instrumental in bringing over 50,000 people to our small theatre each year, that continues without any regular local, national or arts council funding. Their passion and enthusiasm have kept our doors open for 21 years, and we are immensely grateful for their unwavering support.
