Why is there a limit on the number of Companion Tickets available?

As a small theatre and a non-profit charity, our aim is make our theatre as accessible as possible.

Companion tickets are another way of us working towards this aim.

Theatres across the country offer a range of schemes, with some offering no companion tickets, others offering discounts and some offering unlimited companion tickets. As a small theatre with around 300 seats, we are unable to offer unlimited companion tickets, as this makes a large impact on the viability of a show.

What enables larger venues to offer relatively unlimited free seats to more users is simply their vast size compared to us i.e. 30 free seats in an 1800 seater venue is negligible, but represents almost 10% of our total seats at The Blackburn Empire which can mean the difference between a show breaking even or losing money.
