At the Blackburn Empire, our priority is to make the theatre as welcoming and accessible as possible. Companion tickets are one of the ways we support customers who may need extra assistance to enjoy a performance.
As a small, 300-seat charity-run theatre, we must balance accessibility with the sustainability of our shows. Larger venues can sometimes offer unlimited free companion tickets because their capacity makes this easier to absorb. For us, offering the same number would represent a much bigger proportion of our seating and could affect whether a show can go ahead.
By setting a fair limit, we can make sure that companion tickets remain available to those who need them most, while also protecting the future of our theatre and the wide range of shows we bring to the community.
