This weekend, the Blackburn Empire is delighted to welcome veterans and their families who are supported by the Charity Blesma.
The charity supports limbless veterans to help them lead an independent and fulfilling life. The charity was established following the aftermath of World War I and is one of only a handful of charities from this period that are still providing lifelong support to veterans and their families for life.
A staggering 40,000 British men lost limbs in WWI and since then Blesma has grown into a charity that provides annually over 20,000 support calls and visits, assistance with prosthetics including NHS applications, a range of events from arts to winter sports. They also support veterans with financial grants to assist with the additional costs and hardships of disability.
Their website is full of inspirational stories including members who have taken part in the Paralympics & the Invictus Games.
We are proud to be hosting these veterans at our Pantomime, Cinderella this Saturday.

Collections at the theatre this Saturday will be for the benefit of Blesma.
