About us

A theatre built on community, creativity and passion

Blackburn Empire Theatre is a volunteer-led venue bringing live entertainment, local performance and creative opportunities to the heart of Blackburn.

Formerly known as the Thwaites Empire Theatre and the Red Brick Theatre, the venue has a long-standing history as a space for performance, collaboration and community.

A welcoming space for audiences, performers and organisations alike.

A theatre for everyone

We hire our professional theatre and conference facilities to community organisations, performing groups, local societies, dance and drama schools, businesses and education providers from across the North West.

Alongside this, we work with agents, artists and touring companies to present a wide range of entertainment and events across all genres.

Whether you are performing, organising an event or attending a show, Blackburn Empire offers an accessible and welcoming environment.
