TV Stars Are Young At Heart

TV veterans ‘step into the limelight’ in Blackburn as Steve Wood’s debut play marks its first UK tour this autumn.

For one night only, Diane Keen and Graham Cole star in ‘You’re Never Too Old’ at the Thwaites Empire Theatre on Monday, 21 September.

Steve Wood’s new play, which examines humanity, relationships and loneliness is a poignant portrayal of two lonely people trying to find some meaning for their existence.

The TV duo play Tommy and Ada in the production which recently received rave reviews at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Diane Keen is a familiar face on television known for her roles as Julia Parsons in the BBC soap ‘Doctors’, Fliss Hawthorne in ‘The Cuckoo Waltz’ and Jenny Burden in ‘The Ruth Rendell Mysteries’. Graham Cole is also famed for his role as PC Tony Stamp in the long-running drama ‘The Bill’.

You’re Never Too Old is the intriguing story of a couple who meet on a park bench and as they begin to confide secrets and recount memories, the pair from very different backgrounds realise it could be the start of something special.

The script is subtle, full of telling detail and delightful turns of phrase that bring to mind Alan Bennett or Victoria Wood.

You’re Never Too Old is brought to the theatre by Manchester based theatrical production company, Anton Benson Productions Ltd. “We are really delighted to be returning to the Thwaites Empire Theatre with ‘You’re Never Too Old’; a play with its heart firmly planted in its Northern roots. We imagine that characters Tommy and Ada were probably born and bred just down the road…”
