The Thwaites Empire Theatre are launching regular open-mic acoustic sessions at the theatre to give local talent the opportunity to perform and for people to enjoy a free night out.
The live sessions, the brainchild of Theatre Technician Kris Connell, begin on 8th July 2015 at 7pm and will take place in the theatre’s bar area.
Local performers and music fans are invited to come along on the evening, which will be hosted by Chris Hinnigan from local band The Slydes.
The theatre has been working on a range of initiatives to bring new audiences to the theatre including more comedy acts, film screenings and opportunities for local artists to perform. Recent evenings have included comedian Gary Delaney and a screening of the film Northern Soul.
Talking about the acoustic night, Kris said, “I’m hoping this first event will be a big success as it will benefit the theatre and help revive the town’s music scene too.”
Chairman Michael Berry added, “We are working hard broadening the appeal of the theatre and the open-mic night is the perfect way for younger audiences to see just what we have to offer in this great community asset.”
The first acoustic open-mic night takes places on 8th July 2015 at 7pm.
