Theatre Hosts Half-Term Family Fun

From real life fairy-tales to pantomime style shows there’s something to help capture every child’s imagination at the Thwaites Empire Theatre this half-term.

The theatre’s fantastic line-up of professional touring shows are ready to entertain the family this autumn as half-term is just a whisper away.

Magic Light Productions kick off the packed programme with ‘Red Riding Hood’, a classic pantomime style show featuring a high quality set, stunning costumes and puppets on Saturday, 24th October at 2:30pm. The traditional story tells of how Granny Hood, delivers a magic red cloak to Red Riding Hood, who later goes on to save the day against the ravenous ‘Big Bad Wolf’.

‘Hansel and Gretel’, a magical show full of fun and suspense, will be at the Empire Theatre on Tuesday, 27th October at 2:00pm for an enchanting afternoon. This adaptation of the classic tale, which tells the story of two young children who are lost in the woods and then captured by wicked witches, has a comic slant and is sure to have the audience laughing.

A new stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s much-loved children’s story, ‘The Twits’ is also taking to the stage for a two day extravaganza. The 1980s story of a nasty couple who enjoy playing horrible tricks on each other, has been mischievously adapted by David Wood and opens at the Empire on Saturday, 31stOctober and Sunday, 1st November.

There will also be a giant ‘Children’s Holiday Party’ featuring the best of variety with all money raised being donated to the Empire Theatre on Monday, 26th October from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
