The King’s music is still “Rocking ‘n’ Rolling” at the Empire

Fans of Elvis Presley still pack into the Thwaites Empire Theatre twice a year to celebrate the music of the King of Rock and Roll. Featuring some of the country’s best tribute acts, the Empire is thrilled to welcome back Paul Molloy for “Elvis Remembered” on Saturday, 22 August 2015.

Paul, who is recognised as one of the best Elvis tribute acts in the country, has won numerous awards and performs the hits of Elvis from the early days in the 1950s, through to his much loved movie career and the razzle dazzle of Vegas in the 70s.

Each year the theatre based on Aqueduct Road, Blackburn, holds two Elvis concerts, one as a Happy Birthday and one to commemorate his passing.

Maureen Harling, an 81-year-old volunteer with over 20 years’ experience at the theatre has visited Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee twice and never misses the shows at the Empire.

‘Suspicious Minds’, ‘Love Me Tender’ and ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ are a just few of Maureen’s favourite hits, she said: “Elvis has been a big part of my life and when I listen to his music it triggers some of my most special memories.  Each year the theatre has two Elvis concerts and I have been to almost every single one. Paul Molloy performs his music brilliantly and I look forward to seeing his show in August.”
