Celebrating 70 years of the classic
movie, Blackburn Musical Theatre Company returns to the stage with Calamity
Jane – featuring the popular tunes The Deadwood Stage
(Whip-Crack-Away!), Just Blew In From The Windy City, Secret Love and The
Black Hills Of Dakota. 

In the wild-west outpost of Deadwood
City, 1876, sharpshooting tomboy Calamity Jane is surrounded by
cowboys, townsfolk and the famous Wild Bill Hickok. After the local saloon
bar's owner mixes up his Frances with his Francis when booking a performer,
Calam heads to Chicago to reel in the glamourous actress Adelaid Adams – and
mistakenly brings back her maid Katie Brown instead. Back in Deadwood, Katie's
inability to perform is overcome as she wins the heart of the young Lieutenant
Danny Gilmartin, and when Calam sheds her tomboy persona at a ball at the local
Fort, she comes to realise she loves Wild Bill Hickok.
