Blackburn’s ailing live music scene will be given a double boost by talented musicians and singers as free open-mic nights return to the Thwaites Empire Theatre.
Following the successful launch of the open-mic night at the theatre last month, the free acoustic sessions, which give local talent the opportunity to steal the spotlight will return in September.
The live sessions, brainchild of Theatre Technician Kris Connell, return to the Empire on 9th September 2015 at 7:45pm and will take place in the theatre’s bar area.
Local performers and music fans are invited to come along on the evening, which will be hosted by Chris Hinnigan from local band The Slydes.
Kris Connell, event organiser, said: “The sessions provide the locals with an opportunity to enjoy a night out for free. You don’t have to perform to be able to attend. We welcome anybody who just wishes to sit and listen to a night of top music from top local talent.”
The event kicks off the new season of shows at the Empire which includes an evening with comic Lewis Schaffer, a Shakespeare inspired production by a local theatre company and a debut play featuring TV stars Diane Keen and Graham Cole.
The free acoustic open-mic night takes place on Wednesday, 9th September, 2015 at 7:45pm.
