Foot Tapping Hand Clapping Afternoon at Blackburn Theatre

One of Blackburn’s most popular monthly community clubs returns to Thwaites Empire Theatre next month after taking a short break due to theatre repairs.

The ‘Monday Club’ returns to the popular entertainment venue of Monday, 6th June with a full programme of entertainment including musical performances from Roy Chappell, Betzee, Pete Lindup and vocal group the Recycled Wrens.

A number of shows including the ever-popular ‘Monday Club’ were rescheduled after part of a plasterboard ceiling collapsed above the theatre stage last month.

The once-a-month gathering takes place on the first Monday of each month and serves as a ‘community hub’ for locals and attracts large numbers each month.

Chairman of the Thwaites Empire Theatre and Monday Club compere, Michael Berry, said: “Many elderly and isolated people attend the community club for the social factor and it’s unfortunate that we’ve had to postpone the club for two months. However the Monday Club will be back with a foot tapping hand clapping afternoon in June and we hoping for a good turnout.”

Visitors can enjoy tea and biscuits at the social event which runs from 2-4pm and costs £2.50 for members and £3.50 for non-members.
